Finalmente a Firenze

Finally in Florence
March brought us to Florence, finally – with some friends. I had been years ago, Ryan had never been. But now I came armed with some Italian, and some great food recommendations.
We got to see some sights at night …

Palazzo Medici

Ponte Vecchio

The Cathedral

Complete with Bruneleschi's Dome

Mmmm... Sandwiches!

We had awesome sandwiches at my favorite Florentine eatery: I Due Fratellini.

I Due Fratellini

Which is basically a walk up bar, where you order a sandwich off the list (go for Tuscan salami w/ fennel, or something with goat cheese and rucola) and you can get a small glass of chianti, which you drink while you stand around outside.

Gelato at Gelateria Vivoli

Followed by dessert, of course. Gelateria Vivoli is my favorite (the cinnamon is to die for).

View of Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo

And then a hike to the top of Piazzale Michelangelo (need to burn off a couple calories … to make room for dinner)

Me & David

to pose with an outdoor David.

Florentine Steak

Dinner was Florentine steak – raw in the middle, as it should be.

Gelato at Gelateria dei Neri

And then, of course, a stop at Gelateria dei Neri …

Inside the Galileo Museum

And a visit to the Galileo museum – which is a fun changeup from art museums. It’s all about cool scientific gadgets … and figuring out how they work.

That’s almost totally different from my tour of Florence. Good for you.
