La Guerra in Francia – Cimitero Tedesco

Entry to the Cemetary

The German Cemetary is really interesting to see. It has a completely different feel to it. It’s much more somber than the American cemetary. Much quieter, and much more empty.

Here Lies a German Soldier

The stones and the decorations were dark stone – in contrast to the white marble at the American cemetery. It’s interesting though, the cemetery had a way of humanizing the soldiers. Even though they were fighting for Hitler, they were still young men who lost their lives. And each man fighting may not have even known the whole story about what their dictator was doing.

Tombstones and Crosses

The German Cemetery is much less often visited than the other two, but I’m glad we went.
