Il Duomo di San Francesco

The Cathedral of St. Francis (of Assisi)

Assisi is the well known home of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. And it is a popular pilgrimage destination for Catholics. There is a Cathedral there dedicated to St. Francis which is absolutely amazing. There was no photography inside, but it was stunning inside as well. There was a crypt with St. Francis’s remains, and a room with relics from his life (his robes, etc.) There were two levels, and lots of side chapels with statues and sculptures. It was really beautiful and amazing. Alas, you’ll have to content yourself with these pictures from the outside.
